Unique Things That You Can Do With Your Old Windows

If you are having your windows replaced in the near future, you might want to think about all of the things that you can do with the old ones instead of just throwing them out with the trash. To help you with this, you will want to review some of the following creative suggestions.

Picture Frames

You will want to make sure that you are giving your old windows a good cleaning, especially the glass since you will be adhering things to it. If you want, you can paint the trim work of the window to give it a new look or so it will match the decor of your home. Once the window is dry from its cleaning or painting, you will want to glue corner picture tabs on the glass. Use a printed photo as your guide for the placement of the corner tabs so they are placed in a position that will allow them to hold your photos in place. Allow the glue to dry and then add some of your favorite photos. You can then lean the window picture frame against a wall or attach a hanging wire on the back of it so you can hang it on the wall for everyone to admire.

Chalkboards are great for home offices, kitchens, and even the play room for the kids. Simply wash and thoroughly dry the windows before you apply any paint to them. If you would like to brighten up the frame of the window or give it a new splash of color, you can paint the trim of it. Just make sure that you are using a paint meant for the material that you are painting, whether it is a wood or vinyl frame. Once that paint has dried, you can then use chalkboard paint for all of the glass panes in the window. You may want to allow the first coat to dry and then add a second coat in order to ensure that the paint is properly covering all of the glass. After you are finished, you can add wall hanging hooks or wires to the back of it and it is ready to have pictures drawn or notes written on it.
